Sound Slide: Blending to Read

Welcome to Sound Slide! In this activity, students will follow these steps to decode CVC words using the successive blending routine:

1. 1. Click the First Letter: The student clicks on the first letter of the word. The letter will dance, and the student will say the sound of the letter aloud.

2. 2. Click the Second Letter: Next, the student clicks on the second letter (the vowel). They say the sound of the vowel aloud.

3. 3. Scoop and Blend: After saying both sounds separately, the student will "scoop" the first two sounds together by blending them smoothly (e.g., /s/ + /a/ = "sa").

4. 4. Click the Final Letter: The student then clicks on the final letter of the word, says the sound, and adds it to the blend they've already created.

5. 5. Blend the Full Word: Finally, the student blends all three sounds together to read the entire CVC word (e.g., "sat").
